Immocontact: Important update

Rest assured: The platform will remain available directly to brokers with new features coming soon!
NewImmocontact is like a Gucci handbag… beware, there may be copies!

As you know, Centris has announced that it will not be renewing its contract with Immocontact, effective May 1, 2026. We would like to reassure you once again that Immocontact will continue to be available to brokers and agencies after May 1, with no service interruption and no loss of data. Of course, this includes the service provided to your call centres, despite some having “cried wolf” on the matter. We look forward to offering you, from May onwards, brand-new and truly extraordinary features (which cannot be copied overnight!). We are starting slowly today with calendar synchronisation, a feature that has been available for many years to real estate boards outside Quebec.

During a period of selective memory, Centris forgot to mention a very important point to you. We have filed a lawsuit against Centris based on serious allegations of intellectual property infringement. These allegations will only be decided by a judge at trial. Contrary to what may have been suggested, no judge has yet ruled on the merits of the case in the ongoing proceedings. Furthermore, we have never sought the discontinuation of Immocontact, but rather the termination of our contractual relationship with Centris, so that we may offer the service directly to brokers.

We do not want to bore you with legal jargon, but to fully grasp the seriousness of the situation, we invite you to read the following excerpt (translated from the French official extract) from the Strategic alliance agreement between “La Chambre” (now Centris) and Telmatik (now Tootelo, the creator of Immocontact):

  1. c)All rights, titles and interests, including intellectual property rights, held by Telmatik in relation to Immocontact shall remain the exclusive property of Telmatik.
  2. d)La Chambre undertakes not to challenge, either directly or indirectly, Telmatik's rights in relation to Immocontact.
  3. e)La Chambre undertakes to notify Telmatik of any infringement of intellectual property rights relating to Immocontact of which it becomes aware, on the understanding that Telmatik shall have full discretion to determine the appropriate remedial action in the circumstances.
  4. f)It is agreed that any development carried out jointly by Telmatik and La Chambre relating to the adaptation or improvement of Immocontact shall be the exclusive property of Telmatik, which shall have full ownership thereof, together with all rights of use and exploitation.

We leave it to you to form your own opinion on the justification for our actions regarding Centris.

Rest assured: we understand that decisions regarding Immocontact are made by a small number of individuals, and that the vast majority of Quebec brokers do not support such a software re-engineering venture, with its enormous costs and highly contentious legal aspects.

It is also worth recalling the success of Immocontact. A Quebec-based SME with reach across Canada. A tool you have been using since 1999 to make your work easier, and in which over $10 million has been invested. A platform that has handled over 100 million communications. A widely used and appreciated service, accounting for less than 2% of Centris's revenue.

In conclusion, from a financial, technological and legal perspective, as well as in terms of corporate image, we believe that Centris, like a Labrador taking on a porcupine, has the wrong target and is seriously underestimating the consequences, particularly in the current economic climate where we are all being urged to prioritise local suppliers.

We are sincerely sorry that we have all, despite ourselves, been drawn into this situation. That said, we are already looking ahead, and we are very much looking forward to seeing you again on the new Immocontact!
